G.H. Darwin
THE IMPACT THEORY :-In 1878, George Howard Darwin, son of the famous Charles Darwin, proposed that Earth spun so rapidly in its early years that the Sun's gravity eventually yanked off a chunk of it and that chunk became the Moon.

This was known as the Fission Theory, and according to it , the Pacific Ocean Basin marks the place from which the chunk was ripped.
According to the capture Theory, the Moon was a wandering planet that had been snared by Earth's gravity.
The Co-formation Hypothesis declared that Earth and the Moon formed independently, side by side as it were, from the same material that formed all the planets of our solar system.
